We have had many events that have brought much laughter and joy to the community.  Here are some pictures of the events.  Come back often as we are adding more as we go along.

Our Ground Breaking ceremony took place on June 3, 2000.  We had a great deal of fun and many activities where planned for the children and their families.  Click on the image on the left to view more pictures.

The Grand Opening took some time to plan and it involved many volunteers.  On October 27, 2001 we had the biggest party that Pitner has ever seen.  More than 1,500 children and their families where on hand to help us get the Center going.  Many had been here for the ground breaking.  15 families from the community were asked to help us cut the ribbon at the same time.  Take a look at the pictures and notice the big smiles in everyone's face.

Thanksgiving @ Panda Path was wonderful experience for the children.  Have you ever tried to have dinner with more than 100 pilgrims and Indians at the same time?  Well, we did and had a ton o fun doing it.

The members from Chapelwood Church have been the greatest supporters of the Spring Branch Family Development Center.  With their vision, love and support the Center became a reality.  On September 24th, 2001 many of the board members from the church came to visit the Center for the first time.  We are truly grateful for their support.

The staff from Compaq put their talent and resources into building a much need roof over the baseball field dough out during the Day of Caring 2001.  Click on the picture on the left to see them in action.

Dynegy was dynamic when they came to work on some projects at the Boys & Girls Clubs during the Day of Caring 2001.  They created a butterfly garden, painted mural in the gym, and add color to the walls of the Art Room.  Check them out!

On Saturday April 20th, 2002, members from Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church came to the Center to help with some much needed projects.  Bicycle racks where moved to the front of the building, and 500 sack lunches were prepared for the Family Conference held at the Center.  The help of the MDPC volunteers is appreciated every day when the children tie up their bikes.

On August 1st, 2002, the SuperKids Mobile Pediatric Clinic from Texas Children's Hospital came to immunize the children from the area.  More than 145 children received their immunizations and no on was turned away.  This effort was possible thanks to the coordination from Family Services of Greater Houston.  Volunteers from ExxonMobil where on hand to help with the children and their families.  A big hand to Judy Easley, Pamela Raine, Mike Moffitt, Mike Pelton, Susan Kleb, Rainer Uhrenbacher, Dana Perry, Jim Detamore, Rick Weber and Jessica Weber, our voulunteers from ExxonMobil.

The girls & boys from the Boys & Girls Clubs put together a play title "A Day in the Life of John Havard".  Tim Snow with AD Players did an excellent job preparing the children.  He spent three intense hours of teaching our club members the basic skills of acting, using their imagination to show motions, and speaking clearly. He was a trooper. The Club members took an instant liking to him and they were delighted to have participated in the play.  John Havard, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs Houston has been an inspiration for many.  While watching the  play he understood why he had been interviewed so many times by the kids during the previous month.  A great time was had by all.

Lance Childers was working on his Eagle Scout patch.  He came by the Center looking for ways of becoming involved.  Lance’s Eagle Scout Project took a great deal of planning, preparation and construction.  Mr. Ricardo Barnes developed the idea of building the benches for the Spring Branch Family Development Center.  The benches were designed and built over a period of six weeks, and involved nine scouts and several adult scout leaders.  In total, over one hundred hours were spent planning, designing and building the benches for the center.  Lance spent 34 hours on the project himself, and was the manager of the project.  The benches now provide a great place for folks to rest.  When at the Center take a walk to the back of the fields and enjoy a moment of reflection.  Thank you Lance for such good work!

On August 9, 2002 the Center was visited by Carly Fiorina, Chairman & CEO of HP, and Michael D. Capellas, President of HP.  Their visit was greatly anticipated by the kids from Boys & Girls Clubs, where they spend some time talking with the kids, shooting some baskets and talking about Net Smartz with the kids and staff.  HP has been a big supporter of the Boys & Girls Clubs Houston and we would like thank them.  If you would like to see more about their visit click on the picture on the left.

On September 11, 2002, the children from Panda Path and the youth from the Boys & Girls Club showed their respect to the incidents from 9/11.

The members from Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church were instrumental in setting the stage for a fantastic gathering at the Center on December 21, 2002.  Many children and families from the area shared a great time with families from MDPC, made arts and crafts, sang songs, played games, and received gifts.  A good time was had by all.  Take a look at the many happy faces by clicking on the image on the left.  Thank you Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church for all you do for our community.
