New Partnership Brings Needed Resources & New Volunteer Opportunity

SBFDC is excited to launch a new monthly partnership with the Houston Food Bank’s mobile pantry to help families access fresh produce. The area around SBFDC is essentially a “food desert” with few nearby places to purchase healthy foods.

Last month, at our first mobile pantry, 239 families received food and opportunities to connect with on-site agencies. We are excited to grow this initiative to strengthen our community’s health!

Do you have a group or an organization that is looking for a weekday volunteer opportunity?

SBFDC needs 10-15 volunteers for each mobile pantry, from 8:15am-12:15pm, on the scheduled day. Volunteers will help set-up tables and distribute the produce to families, standing at tables. We are also looking for organizations to sponsor 500 reusable bags at each event.

If you know of an interested party, please contact us at outreach@sbfdc.org.
